  • Meet Dawn Patrice

Adopting the right mindset as a creative can be difficult. We go through thoughts of am I good enough, am I putting in enough hours, is my skill good enough, etc. As a result, because of these complicated beliefs, failure isn't fatal! It's the courage we continue to count towards ourselves. You have to keep trying! Today! We're honored to introduce you to Dawn Patrice. She's an Image Consultant and confident speaker in Atlanta, Ga. Before, jumping into your creative life, how was your personal life growing up? My personal life has always been all things creative! I can remember being in the 2nd grade, asking my mom to take me to our local drug store to get a disposable camera. I enjoyed watching BET and imitating the dance moves. Also, in my youth, I sold snacks out of my locker/backpack, and out of my mother’s trunk at church. Lasting, even as a teenager I would make sure I was well put together before leaving the house with my cute outfits. So, I can confidently say I am creative through and through! Where were you born and raised? Atlanta and raised in Ellenwood, GA Tell us something nobody knows about you. I am an open book! What do you do when you're not being creative? Lol. I live in my own creative world all the time! I will literally be in my home rearranging and organizing; cultivating a different look or feel. Creativity is my happy place! We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall how has been an entrepreneur help you to transition your life? Great question! It’s definitely taught me to be very intentional in every aspect of my life! What fears did you have to overcome to become the person you are today? I had to overcome the thought of not wanting to fail and establishing a business with no flaws. I was crazy enough to think, if I just follow the blueprint of a successful business then I would not have any issues. Oh, the mind, of your youth is so naïve! Lol What or who is your inspirational source? My inspirational source has been my creator! There was a quote I had on my dresser as a teenager, to help me focus. Well, the intent was there
! Lol. It stated, “Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” Did you have anybody in your corner to help get your career started? Yes and No! Subconsciously, in retrospect yes! I have always had the mentality that I was not created to work for someone for the rest of my life. However, I knew I had to “figure it out”; which that statement came from my mother. She literally would always say “figure it out!” Honestly, that encouraged me to have great problem-solving skills and creating multiple ways in making things work. If it did not initially work, it was okay; because I understood I could/would figure things out in my career and overall life. We'd love to hear more about your business. One of the reason's why most people get stuck while manifesting is because their not clear of their vision and not align with the universe. Here are some steps into manifestation into becoming a better you... Step 1: Have a clear vision If you don't know exactly what you need out of life, how do you expect your life to change? Speak and journal to the universe. Step 2: Have a strong desire Think big, In your mind! Be as clear on your goals. Write down the goals you want to accomplish. Step 3: Have a clear intention Conscious manifestation: put your energy into your work, and not the television or other detractions. Keep your focus on the movement of achievement. Notice the challenges that are mind-blocking you from your goals. Step 4: Focus on positivity Remove yourself from negative spaces. Remove negativity from your mind, and mouth. ( what you think and speak into existence will happen). Surround yourself with positive influences. Take a mental break. Laugh! Enjoy breathing exercises. Enjoy your time on earth. • Meet Ahastery Lorenzo

While being an entrepreneur can be extremely difficult. It also has its benefits. We go through emotions from choosing products, producing clients, balancing daily activities, etc. Being an entrepreneur gives you independence, flexibility, and an introduction to other creatives. Let us begin by introducing you to Ahastery Lorenzo. What's Your Name? Ahastery Lorenzo Before, jumping into your creative life, how was your personal life growing up? Growing up in the Dominican Republic until the age of 9 3/4, I was able to experience a lot of freedom. Walking to school with my friends, going outside to play games with my friends every day, walking to my grandmother's house, talking everyone's ear off, and just being a social butterfly, with no restrictions whatsoever. Growing up in the US though was a bit different. I couldn't dance in the house because we first lived at my aunt's and she didn't allow secular music to be played, and then we moved into a second-floor apartment and the downstairs neighbors complained about my dancing... I couldn't go outside to play because my brothers no longer had an interest in playing with me, I had no friends and my grandmother was afraid about me playing outside by myself. My life got turned upside down. Right side up and upside down again multiple times, to the point where I became socially inept. Where were you born and raised? I was born in Bani, Dominican Republic, lived there until age 9 3/4, moved to Tucker, GA in 2003, and have lived here since. Tell us something nobody knows about you. I enjoy DIY projects. I like making my own envelopes and boxes as well as finding ways to recycle materials I already own. What do you do when you're not being creative? I watch a lot of Korean Dramas, they've been my guilty-pleasure for about three years now. We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall how has been an entrepreneur help you to transition your life? It's been hard, to be honest. You don't become an entrepreneur overnight, you have to put in the work, even when you feel lazy because if you don't do it, no one else is going to do it for you. What fears did you have to overcome to become the person you are today? The fear of failure. If I'm honest it's still the major thing I deal with even today - on really bad days I really question the steps I've taken and if it's actually been worth it. What or who is your inspirational source? My inspiration comes from God and my desire to fulfill the purpose He has placed inside of me. Did you have anybody in your corner to help get your career started? Yes, I did, I have a couple of people who are cheering me on and are patiently waiting for me to truly launch myself. We'd love to hear more about your business. My business is called About a Girl. It's a name that came to my mind back in 2015... back then it was all about getting me out of my cocoon and becoming a butterfly - it failed. But over the last two years I have been working closely alongside God to make this what He wants it to be and so now About a Girl is a vessel through which people will get to see behind the closed door of the Christian life - things are not perfect, happy-go-lucky and stress-free, there are hardships, everyday worries, but in the midst of all that there's the Peace that only Jesus can bring. I am About a Girl, About a Girl is me and I'm not perfect, but I'm not aiming to be and I hope that whoever sees me and reads the books I'll release also learns to accept themselves as who they are and live a life of purpose. • Meet Domanick Crittenden

As we are starting into a New Year, let's begin by introducing you to Domanick Crittenden. Before, jumping into your creative life, how was your personal life growing up? Life was rough growing up, we stayed in the projects with high violence, crime, and drug peddlers. Not all was bad I met great people that showed me more than just the projects. I learned baseball, basketball, football, anime, kickball, etc. my parents were drug abusers with my dad and older brother being peddlers themselves, we still had everything that we could have possibly wanted. As I got older I was never really the popular one or hung out with them unless it was my brother and his entourage. I played video games and basketball, it was something that intrigued me and made me want to be a gamer that played ball. I met tons of friends through gaming and sports so it became my first and second love with gaming being the first. Where were you born and raised? Louisville, KY Tell us something nobody knows about you. I almost had two kids by different women around the same time twice. We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall how has being an entrepreneur help you to transition your life? It’s been a rigorous road especially with me being a YouTuber and the platform is always changing. All in all, I’ve been more positive, creative, and happy since working on my brand and businesses. I make music for my lows and videos for my highs, I try to balance my emotions through things I’m very passionate about and it’s been a breathtaking experience. I love the grinding process and more importantly, I love to fail. What fears did you have to overcome to become the person you are today? Outside chatter, speculation, opinions, etc. doesn’t matter to me. It’s about you and your happiness and what you can do to stay that way and change those around you into that very same thing. I credit a lot of this to GaryVee he’s gotten me through a lot of touch anxiety especially with YouTube. What or who is your inspirational source? My wife and kids. I want them to see success through my eyes and know that it’s possible for them to achieve it as well and that job is a stepping stone not a way of life. Did you have anybody in your corner to help get your career started? Plenty! There were tons of people in my corner, they have seen my potential and what my visions were. Some gift me treasures that leave me speechless, others leave comments on my pages and channels motivating me to stay with my dreams. We'd love to hear more about your business. I operate and manage two YouTube channels “EyeCon Livin’” and “EyeCon’s Livin’”. One is a gaming channel the other is a vlog channel, I’ve had the gaming channel since June 2020 and I started the second channel around a month ago. Both are doing well, but due to COVID-19, I had to slow down on filming for the vlog channel. I’ve also returned to recording music ( I stopped to work on my YouTube channels) and now I’m incorporating music with my channels. I’ve been making music for about 10 years now, I started taking it seriously around 6-7 years ago that's when I started working on the business aspect of it. Now I’m just working and doing what I love and hopefully, someday someone will love my work just as much as I do.
