What's Your Name? *

MAKO Girls

Before, jumping into your creative life, how was your personal life growing up?

Being that we are sisters, growing up we were all very close with each other. We’d hang out with one another, sing in the choir together, and travel internationally.

Where were you born and raised?

MAKO Girls were born in Atlanta / Decatur Georgia and raised in Decatur, Georgia.

Tell us something nobody knows about you.

We have a West Indian background and this helped influence the creation of our Annual Carnival Glow Party.

What do you do when you're not being creative?

When we aren’t being creative we enjoy hanging out with family, Kena and A-Ni like to play video games, and Mimi likes to work on DIY projects.

We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall how has been an entrepreneur help you to transition your life?

Being young entrepreneurs helped build a sense of leadership in us at a young age and knowing how to carry ourselves like the bosses we are.

What fears did you have to overcome to become the ladies you are today?

A fear that was definitely hard for us to overcome we stepping out of our comfort zone and learning to try different things. We would always second guess everything and never tried to expand our horizons or thoughts because we were unsure of the outcome. Now we are able to adapt to situations that we are unsure of and go through them with confidence.

What or who is your inspirational source?

When we first started some of our main inspirations were Mindless Behavior, TLC, Aaliyah, and Katy Perry.

Did you have anybody in your corner to help get your career started?

When we started our journey in the music industry our parents always had our backs. By teaching us what we should know about this industry and helping us understand the business aspect of the entertainment industry. Our parents are still there today to oversee every step of our journey. They want to see us WIN!
