My personal life wasn't much to complain about now that I look back at it. I'm the oldest of my mother's children so I got most of the discipline. It wasn't always good but, I'm still alive and not dead or in jail somewhere. My grandfather taught me the guitar and how to garden. My grandmother, the English teacher, taught me how to write legibly and how to express myself. My mother taught me the pain that exists in a woman's heart that never leaves. My dad taught me, how to walk away without looking back. My stepfather showed me how to stand up for myself and never allow anyone to try to play me. Where were you born and raised? I was born in Americus, GA and I was raised in College Park, GA Tell us something nobody knows about you. I'm not an easy read. What do you do when you're not being creative? I like to learn new things like languages, coding, and reading, and playing video games. We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall how has being an entrepreneur help you to transition your life? It's helped me focus more. Understanding the ins and outs of capitalism in my field has helped me realize that most people don't know what they are doing. It's better to know what you're doing and why you're doing it than to blindly be doing something. That was life before being an entrepreneur. Now, focus on the goals and tasks at hand. What fears did you have to overcome to become the person you are today? Letting go. I never quite understood why certain people couldn't come with me to where I was going until I realized most of those people were active/inactively working against me. Letting go encompasses embracing myself more, enjoying my own presence as well as adjusting my thoughts to realize what was me talking in my head and encouraging me and what was doubt from others talking in my head discouraging me. What or who is your inspirational source? My grandfather and God. Did you have anybody in your corner to help get your career started? I did. I didn't know how to get to the studio. In fact, before college, I'd never been to an actual recording studio. An awesome photographer, who just so happened to be a songwriter, was looking for someone to sing and play guitar for his song. First time ever going to a studio but after that, I was all in. Engineers wanting to work with me, artists who just liked the sound of my voice keep me going mentally. When I was 5 to about 10 years old, I played the drums for my church's children's choir. After that, I started to take piano lessons. When I got to high school that's when I became more involved in the marching band and I made myself a rap song, was hitting on nothing. So, I focused the majority of my energy on my clothing line Chump Change ATL. I didn't start rapping again until I got to college but that was more so fun. As a young girl, I would start different programs at my church that could help us as young girls get through any difficulties or adversities that we might come across I also LED a choir and created and planned youth explosions alongside my peers. Yes preserve my passion it's not easy but it is the easiest thing that I know how to do by myself. Overall my entrepreneurial life has helped me to transition my personal life because there is leaps and bounces in everything that we do whether it is personal or business but with a business you have to choose either or whereas in personal life you can kind of balance the two but with everything you want to have a knowing of why and with business there is a strategic way that you have to go about running your business or else it will fail and so learning that I have to know my wise and I have to present these mission statements and present these presentations to the world about why and how I am operating my business and allows me to look within myself and say how am I doing this for myself if I can do this for the world then I can do this for myself and so it has made my healing process and my growth process a lot more easier to deal with because just like business I have to know my why's and so with my personal life me figuring out my why's allows me to understand myself more and love myself more and be patient with myself more and write more and express myself more and sit along with myself more and taking all of those different ideas and different board members that are in my mind and saying okay let's have a meeting this is what we are going to do this month or this week or just today. Wow fears that I had to overcome to become the person I am today is doubt feeling like what I have is not good enough to present to the world feeling like it's not going to work and the strategies that I have are not good enough to make it work and just doubting my potential all around the board What or who is your inspirational source? My inspirational source is definitely art I feel like God is the main artist that I look up to and just the fact that he created such a beautiful Earth to be the embodiment of his mind is what inspires me the most because even though God is something that we don't see, we can still see his work and that allows me to know that we can still think like him we can still create like him we can still be the biggest creators in our world just like God did in his world. I have a few people in my corner that has helped me get my career started first of all my daughter is my number one supporter she is the one that I run all of my ideas into and ask her what is she think and she will help me tweak things and it's just a beautiful thing. Also, my mother and my aunt and my grandfather being one of my biggest pushers and telling me that I have to do this and that I don't need to stop on account of anyone else's opinions and has been such a great blessing and a gift. But also there are women and men who have believed in me along my journey that that has sat with me and brainstormed with me and listened to my ideas my concerns of the world my perception of the world and they have understood where I have come from in many of times when others just had no idea where I was even going. Those people have been my teachers my professors my pastors my bosses and even my classmates from college that has turned into my sisters. We'd love to hear more about your business. Being able to wake up and see the peaceful sky, grounding grass, birds chirp-ping, kids outside playing, was the best. Even parents yelling! Time to eat or bring your ass in this house when the lights come on was the greatest feeling growing up. There was no such thing as staying inside the house to text, posing for IG, even being in grown folks business was a no-no might get your butt tap...(Facts) girls used to meet up and sit outside on the AC unit while watching the guys play basketball and parents getting together and throw block parties was rewarding. I remember Ma cooking fried chicken, while people at the table playing spades or poker. Even the sound of enjoyment from music playing and kids engaging in monopoly or twister, man a time to remember! There was even a time when teenagers used to walk to the store to get snacks without being harassed and eating popsicles on the way back home. See back then kids knew how to have fun and just be kids, now children are growing up to fast with society, with no place of guidance, safety, or brains, and with the thought that being a child is prohibited.
