Everyone has their personal vision and mission of themselves, it is crafted of finding your own ease, reinventing the aspect of oneself, and then adjusting the habit. When you find your peace of purpose, delegate your growth, transform your career, and adapt to the future, you are on your way to success.
Let's get to know the entrepreneur and hairstylist Shereffa Stylez.
Before, jumping into your creative life, how was your personal life growing up?

I am the eldest of 16 siblings and growing up in a Guyanese and Jamaican household, my parents were very protective of me and stern. I grew up very young because I had to take care of my siblings whenever my mother had to go to school or work. My siblings and I are very close and we are all are very supportive of one another. I’m happy looking back on my childhood because I know my parents loved me and did the best they could to raise me. I would not be the woman I am today without them.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn New York but became a woman in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Tell us something nobody knows about you.
As a child, I was exposed to things that no child should ever have to go through growing up. I am a #Metoo survivor because of some of the people my parents trusted to watch me- and it’s sad to say that they were family. Having to experience certain things, I didn’t realize how messed up I was until I got to college. I decided to seek out the help that I needed to be able to forgive myself and the people in my life. I’ve had to build myself up to be the woman that I am today.
Has there been a specific time that you recall not having your voice heard? If so, what did you do to challenge yourself?
As a teacher in the public school system, I didn’t feel like I had a voice. Though I carried the same credentials as some of my coworkers and my work ethic, as well as test scores, spoke for itself. It seemed like I always had to prove myself as a young teacher. So, I decided to take a leap of faith and become a full-blown entrepreneur where I didn’t have to limit myself or my potential.

What's your tip or the best way you maintain a live/ work balance?
Honestly, my biggest tip is to find time to invest in yourself. I’m still learning how to maintain a healthy life and work balance. I’m learning that I need to schedule everything! I don’t just use my calendar to schedule appointments and gigs. I also implement my self-care routine and my time to get out and connect with friends and family. Sometimes, you have to be willing to sacrifice one for the other, but family will always come first. For me, that is the only way to find that balance.
What artist keeps you influenced, and why?
Anyone that knows me knows that Rihanna is my inspiration. I consider her to be a self-starter like myself, who doesn’t use what she’s been through in her life to define where she wants to be. She is a mogul and I want to be able to not only be able to model her Savage X Fenty down the runway, but I hope to be an inspiration to other women the way she is for me.
What would you be doing right now; if it wasn't for your entrepreneur career?
Before starting my entrepreneurship career, I was an educator for five years. I’ve had the opportunity to teach just about every grade level in elementary school. In the last three years of my teaching career, I fell in love with teaching Special Education. I knew that all they needed was someone to believe in them and build those foundations to make them successful. So, if I was not an entrepreneur I would still be working with my babies.

What do you do when you're not being creative?
When I’m not being creative, I’m indulging in travel so, I can decompress and rejuvenate myself for the next project. Self-care is my best friend! After investing in my business ventures and other people, I focus on myself. I love a good pamper session!
We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall how has been an entrepreneur help you to transition your life?
Being an entrepreneur has helped me to embrace who I am and bet on myself. I don’t seek validation from anyone. If I can envision it, then I can make it happen. Even if the people around me can’t see it at the time. In this world, you can’t take things personally so, I try to stay focused and mind the business that pays me.
What fears did you have to overcome to become the person you are today?
Due to my childhood trauma, I was very argumentative and defensive growing up. No one really understood me or where the anger came from so, people didn’t think I would get far in life. I grew up with the fear of not being successful enough and wanting to be accepted. I felt like I had a point to prove. I’ve grown to love myself and I move to the beat of my own drum. The people that are meant to be in my life will be there. So, if it doesn’t flow, I let it go. I love it here!
What or who is your inspirational source?
The source of my inspiration comes from the most high. I ask God to allow me to move with grace and in the way that he wants me to move. I’m very spiritual and I believe in a higher power. I also believe in vibrational energies. So, I’m big on protecting my peace, manifesting, and constantly evolving.
Did you have anybody in your corner to help get your career started?
I’m so blessed to have supportive parents. My mother has always been my biggest fan. It doesn’t matter what business venture or gig I am getting myself into, she is always there cheering me on. My Aunt Christine is like my second mom, she is right there cheering me on as well. She invested into my Majestically Tangled Virgin Hair Extensions when it was just a business plan. Anything I need, Auntie has no problem funding while teaching me the business. My father has definitely played a major role in where I crown my clients. He took his time to build my in-home salon, making it more accommodating for my clientele. Formally known as the Palace! I couldn’t ask for a better support system.

We'd love to hear more about your business.
