Filmmaker Michael Pack will lead U.S. Global Media Agency

The Senate confirmed on Thursday that Michael Pack , a Conservative Filmmaker will be dictating more news coverage to lead the independent agency that is charge of state-funded media outlets.

Mr.Pack previously served as the director of World-net , that's now the Voice Of America , under President George W. Bush and worked at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as senior executive.

However, Trump intervened to expedite Mr.Pack's nomination, which amid concerns from senators in both parties and hit an investigation by the District of Columbia attorney general , into whether he illegally funneled at least $1.6 million funds from his nonprofit group

( Public Media Lab) to his for-profit film company (Manifold Productions) .

Led by Senator Republicans Jim Risch of Idaho, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, pushed over the objections of the Democrats, who argue that the process should be at a stand-still, given the investigation into Mr.Pack's finances and outstanding questions about his ability to protect the agency's editorial independence.

President Donald Trump complained about Mr.Pack's stalled nomination and referred to it as "Voice of the Soviet Union" , as well as privately calling Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and pressed him to speed up the nomination.

The nomination was a 12-10 after a contentious meeting of making Conservative Filmmaker to lead U.S. Media Agency.
